Environmental Sustainability
a green philosophy in an often brown land
Yarrabandai Creek Homestead offers the ultimate quintessential country experience, for city slickers who don’t want to sacrifice modern amenities and comfortable accommodation. An opportunity to connect with nature and the environment .
Our philosophy is to enjoy the land of which we are the present custodians and to ensure its sustainability for the future. We believe in minimising our impact on the environment by reducing waste and sourcing everything, from fresh produce to furniture, as locally as possible.
We are committed to environmentally sustainable development and environmental conservation.
Our sustainable aims include:
-
Identifying the environmental impacts associated with hospitality operations
-
Savings in energy use and waste and water disposal
-
Minimising waste by composting food and paper goods and minimising the use of plastics while recycling all glass, unavoidable plastics and any other recyclable materials
-
Using energy efficient lighting throughout the cabins and homestead
-
Installing rain tanks, one of the most effective ways to save water and benefit the environment
-
Giving guests an option to have their towels and bedding laundered as required. Not servicing the cabins daily unless requested
-
Providing encouragement to our employees to work in an environmentally responsible manner
-
Researching to install an aquaponics set up to help in the development of our own self irrigating fruit & vegetable gardens
We are undertaking revegetation of local native trees and shrubs to encourage birds, bees and animals throughout the property.
